Online Foot Care Nurse Educator Course
Course Description and Application
The Online Foot Care Nurse Educator course (FCNEd) is taught and administered by Foot Canada Training.
The newly consolidated Online Foot Care Nurse Educator (FCNEd) course introduces the basics of adult learning theory (including assessment and teaching principles) and explores the practical skills necessary to teach a Foot Care Nurse course - lesson planning, presentation methods and technology, as well as health and safety. The curriculum is based on current Best Practice Guidelines and evidence-based practice, including the Canadian Association of Foot Care Nurses’ National Competencies for Advanced Nursing Foot Care in Canada (2017) and the WHO Nurse Educator Core Competencies (2016).
The FCNEd course is offered online and consists of six sections, each including an exercise and a multiple-choice evaluation. It is estimated that each section, including the required reading, exercise and evaluation, takes 7 hours to complete. The course also includes a final project, which is estimated to take 30 hours to complete. Students should also plan for about 3 hours of administrative work setting themselves up online, corresponding with the instructor, filling out the pre and post self-evaluations and completing the course satisfaction survey.
The FCNEd course is to be completed at the student’s own pace. However, section exercises, multiple-choice evaluations and projects are to be completed in the order provided. Students do not need to wait for results from a previous section to continue to the next section. Students should allow for 5 days for the results of each section exercise and 3 weeks for results on the final project.
Prior to registering for the FCNEd course, all prospective students are encouraged to read the FCNEd Course Outline for information on course prerequisites and complete course details.
