Online Foot Care Nurse Theory Course
The Online Foot Care Nurse Theory course (FCN Theory) provides a theoretical foundation for nurses preparing for a career in nursing foot care, or who are looking to expand the scope of their nursing skills.
This course is designed for nurses (RN’s, NP’s, RPN’s & LPN’s) new to foot care, or for experienced Foot Care Nurses who wish to update their knowledge and skills. The course follows a comprehensive, advanced and diabetic nursing foot care curriculum. This curriculum is based on current best practice guidelines and evidence-based practice, including the Canadian Association of Foot Care Nurses’ National Competencies for Advanced Nursing Foot Care in Canada (2017). Students are expected to complete online quizzes and view pre-recorded slide presentations from their work/home computer.
After successfully completing the FCN Theory course, nurses new to foot care must complete clinical training in order to work as a Foot Care Nurse.

Online FCN Theory Course + Clinical Training Registration Package Options in some locations. Click on the Register Now button for all options.
Nurses who have completed the theoretical portion of their training are required to complete hands-on clinical training before being able to work as a Foot Care Nurse. It is recommended that nurses research opportunities to complete their clinical training prior to commencing the FCN Theory Course.
There are many education providers across the country, including Foot Care Nurse Educators, Colleges, and Health Agencies, who have purchased Foot Canada Training’s Curriculum License, and now offer our courses and workshops in various locations and provinces.
While it is not mandatory for FCN Theory graduates to choose to do their clinical training with one of these Licensed Education Providers, nurses are responsible for choosing an education provider who will provide them with the skills required to practice foot care safely and autonomously, according to the regulations of their provincial nursing licensing body. Foot Canada Training recommends that if it is not possible to register with a Licensed Education Provider, nurses should find an education provider whose courses adhere to the CAFCN National Competencies (2017) and the IPAC position statement (2019).

"I am enrolled in the Foot Canada Training - Theory program currently running. First, I must say that I am very impressed with the thoroughness of the program, it has far exceeded my expectations! This course has compelled me to examine areas of nursing that, admittedly I should have been more conscientious about, but was so caught up in the ‘clinicalness’ of, I did not devote the effort to areas like best practice, competencies, the business aspect of nursing and our relationship with FNIH....Thank you so much for your help."
Tatiana Basmanova RPN
"I've never taken courses online and it was hard to decide to take it. I can say it was a great experience and the right decision. Everything was clear and went smoothly. Questions that I had during the course were answered in a few hours. The textbook was very helpful, had good illustrations and a glossary I will use for a long time before I become familiar with all the terms."
